A local concept in Buenos Aires: Alvear Art Hotel 5*
On a previous buisiness trip I had the pleasure of staying at the Alvear Art Hotel in Buenos Aires and found it to be a solid four-star experience.
The hotel boasts a modern and spacious design, perfectly blending comfort with contemporary aesthetics. The attention to detail in the rooms made for a very pleasant stay, and the overall ambiance was inviting.
One of the highlights of the Alvear Art is its central and convenient location. It’s easy to explore vibrant Buenos AIres from here, with many major attractions just a short walk away. This added to the overall enjoyment of my visit, allowing me to immerse myself fully in the local culture.
However, while the hotel meets many expectations for a four-star stay, I struggled to see why it was categorized as five-star. Some amenities and services felt somewhat limited compared to other hotels in the higher tier and there are plenty of options nearby.
For my clients I prefer properties that have a more local flavor like the sister property Alvear Palace Hotel which I hope to visit in the future. The food and restaurant are vey good, in a nice setting.
I really enjoyed the swimming pool and spa facilities on the top floor. Great views day and night, spacious, clean and a must after a long trip or a long day of excurions.
One significant drawback could be the payment process. Dealing with exchange rates when paying or requesting refunds could be a frustrating experience due to issues with the local currency, leading to unexpected discrepancies. Canceling a reservation or securing a refund also could be a problem regarding whether funds would revert to my account in pesos or USD, or other hard currencies. This may be due to the current official policies, so it may apply to all hotels. This could be a headache and can detract from an otherwise enjoyable stay.
Personally I would recommend Alvear Art for those seeking a comfortable and conveniently located hotel in Buenos Aires, but potential guests should be cautious about payment logistics.
